Upper Component Reviews

A barrel can transform a scattergun into a tack driver (and vice versa).  Not every gun needs a match quality barrel (in fact, most do not).  But you should invest in a good quality barrel to avoid variation and frustration in your shooting experience.

Muzzle Devices

The hunk of metal on the end of a barrel can do amazing things.  It can reduce the bright flash in low light conditions.  It can reduce the kick of a high powered round.  It can keep your sights on target for quick follow up shots.  The muzzle device can make or break your shooting experience.

The gas system of a direct impingement AR sees insanely hostile conditions.  At the very least, you don’t want this system blowing up in your face.  But the gas system is also a massive opportunity for fine tuning the shooting experience.

Bolt Carrier Groups

The bolt carrier group is the primary component of the reciprocating mass.  It sees intense temperatures, pressures, and friction.  Poor quality can mean a bad day at the range and a FUBAR gun.

Charging Handles

When you need to use a charging handle, you want it to be easy to find, easy to operate, and reliable.  A quality charging handle is a great early upgrade to the AR system.
