Start Building Your AR
Whoa!
You're obviously serious about this.
Okay. Here we go...
We assume that (since you are here) you have had the chance to review our So You Want to Build an AR and Build Considerations sections, as these have important considerations as you begin this journey. If not, please go ahead and review them now (even if you have built an AR in the past…).
We also assume that you either have read through our Design Considerations section, or are exploring your options. Either way, you should read the Design Considerations articles to go into your AR build with the best chance for success.
Select Your Class
The first step on your AR-building journey begins with selecting a class of AR. Your selection will determine the calibers and components required, in addition to the core functionalities and capabilities. Be sure to weigh the benefits and drawbacks of each class before committing to one (see our AR Class article in the Design Considerations section). When in doubt, start with the AR-15.
Build A PCC (AR-9)
Pistol Caliber
The AR-9 (or AR-40) is a pistol caliber carbine (PCC). With it, you get the benefits of the AR platform, with the portability and cost-effectiveness of a pistol caliber firearm. We offer options for both pistol and carbine in this class.
Build an AR-15
Small Frame
The AR-15 is the gold standard in close to intermediate distance combat-ready firearms. With this class, you will be able to do everything from close quarters target engagement out to about 600 meters. This gun balances power with portability. We offer carbine and rifle options for this class.
Build an AR-10
Large Frame
The AR-10/LR-308 is the large frame variant of the AR-15, chambered in either .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor. This gun can do everything an AR-15 can, and then some. When chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, we have shot out to a mile with great results. Note that the gun and ammo are pricier and heavier in this class. We offer carbine and rifle options in this class.
