"The TDP"

When most people mention “TDP”, they are talking about the Colt M16A1 TDP.  This is the O.G. that still defines most of the requirements for today’s AR-style military hardware.

We assume that you have read the GD&T and QC article, so you are familiar with the conventions and symbology.  If not, please start there.

Below, you will find every drawing that we have been able to find for the TDP.  We have been able to locate some newer versions of the drawings, which are the ones with isometric views.  If you are interested in the originals of these, contact us and we can send you a link.  If you find drawings that we don’t have, please submit them and we will get them posted for all to enjoy.

Disclaimer

The drawings provided below are provided for your entertainment and academic purposes.  These drawings have been collected from all over the internet.  As such, we were not the ones to release them to the general public.

However, if we are asked (by Colt, DoD, etc.) to remove any or all these drawings, we will do so.  We sincerely hope that this will not happen, and we don’t see a very good reason if it does.  Our government has sold, given, and abandoned some version of these arms in just about every country in the world.  If anyone, anywhere wanted to manufacture the M16, they have already reverse engineered it; they would not need 50+ year old technical drawings.

For now, we hope these drawings contribute to your enjoyment of this incredible weapon system.

Please submit one PDF file at a time.  We will review all submissions and post approved drawings within 1 business day.
